Welcome to the Homepage of the United Grand Lodges of Germany, the umbrella association of the five regular German Grand Lodges and their 14 000 brethren. It is not only since the publication of Dan Brown's "Lost Symbol" that current publications in the media and the press have shown an increased interest in our association. The Internet has meanwhile also given ourselves the possibility to directly present ideas and ideals to a wider public and, for example, to answer specific questions in our "Forum". However, if you really want to learn about Freemasonry, we would still recommend pertinent literature ("Literatur") or personal talks with brethren at one of the many public events organized by our 470 lodges.
Please consider this a personal invitation and allow me to encourage you to overcome any lingering inhibitions. It is worthwhile. I myself have found it to be so. The websites of our constituent Grand Lodges ("Mitgliedsgroßlogen") will provide links for personal contacts. Traditionally speaking, we accept "free men of good report" within our ranks, men not content to remain as they are, but such as are interested in further developing their personality. The "training" we provide to achieve this end draws on a rich fund of ancient usages and customs. Yours very sincerely (Prof. Dr.) Rüdiger Templin Grand Master United Grand Lodges of Germany
